Worship at Graceham Moravian Church

Worship For December 2011

Worship times are 8am and 10:30am for the month of December, 2011.

Thanks to Justin McAfee and Gary Rollins for lighting the Advent Candle of Hope on our Advent Wreath the first Sunday of Advent, and for the presentation of the banner symbol, The Branch of Jesse.

December 4th, 2001 — 2nd Sunday of Advent

Steven Brice and Charlie Frey will light the Advent Candle of Love and present the banner symbol, The Hand of God. We will enjoy special music at both our services. The Prophet Isaiah proclaims deliverance and release to the suffering: "Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God." John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness, proclaims the "good news" as the Gospel of Mark begins the story of the advent of Jesus."

December 11th, 2001 — 3rd Sunday of Advent

Nadine Kuster and Gwen Frey will light the Advent candle. This week we light the pink or rose colored Candle of Joy, and place the Angel symbol on our banner. "God sends forth good news, especially to the oppressed, the broken-hearted, the prisoners, and the poor. Isaiah breaks forth into a song of hope."

December 18th, 2001 — 4th Sunday of Advent

Taylor Ellenberg and Laura Keilholtz will light the Advent Candle of Peace as they present the Manger, Stable and Infant panel on our banner. Our children will present their program for the 10:30 am service. The story of the Angel Gabriel bringing surprising and fearful news to Mary will be retold and the Hosanna Choir will sing at the 8 am service.

December 24th, 2001 — Christmas Eve

All three services will offer a variety of special music. Come and worship; worship Christ, the newborn king!

  • 5pm: Kylie Bell and Diane Daniels will light the Christ Candle on our Advent Wreath this Holy Night, and present the Figure of Mary Pondering for our banner. A special time for children and those who are young at heart will be offered at the 5 pm service when Harold the Weird Angel and Susie Sunshine arrive to announce the Good News that Christ is born. Their message will invite our hearts to embrace the Christ Child.

December 25th, 2001 — Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day)

Come and worship on Christmas morning at 10 am., when we will pray our Christmas Liturgy, enjoy the music of Bells of Grace, and share a Christmas service of Holy Communion. The Symbol of the Candle, a sign of the fulfillment of God's promise and representing Christ as the Light of the World, will be added to our banner. Nursery care will be available, but there will be no Little Church. We will have one service and there will be no Sunday School, nursery or Little Church on Christmas Day.

You are invited to Harriet Chapel for a Christmas Concert on December 17th at 6:00 pm and at 11:00 pm on Christmas Eve to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

January 1st, 2012 — New Year's Day

There will be one service at 10 am on Sunday, January 1, 2012. We will receive our Watchword Texts and the Hosanna Choir will offer their gifts.
